Chladni Sound Vibration Bow Tie. Kaleidoscopic slice of a 1621 hertz vibration experiment. Recorded from our painting visualization on a steel plate, from our own handmade vibration machine! These "Chladni Figures," are named for musician and physicist Ernst Chladni who in 1787, first ran a violin bow across a brass plate lightly covered in sand and pictorially recorded the waveforms that appeared. Shorb's experiment has been photographed and burned to screen for the world's first Chladni necktie!
